Dorothy Hayes Gandy, resident of Magnolia, Texas passed suddenly on Friday, November 12, 2010 in an automobile accident.
She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on October 31, 1931, grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana and graduated from Fair Park High School in 1949. Dorothy attended Nursing School at Northwestern College in Natchitoches, Louisiana and trained at the Old Charity Hospital in Shreveport.
Dorothy worked at Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation in Shreveport where she met her husband, Snider. They relocated to Houston in 1961. She enjoyed playing bridge and played tennis with the HLTA for many years. In 1997, Dorothy and Snider moved to Magnolia, Texas. She lived an active healthy life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all lives she touched.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Bertha McQuillin Hayes. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Snider; twin sister Betty Hayes; daughters Diane Tinker and husband Ed, Laura Leigh Gandy, Carol Gallegos and husband Ken. She is also survived by grandchildren Brooke Bailey, Jennifer Bailey, Allen Tinker and wife Felisha, Kimberly Gallegos, Lauren Gallegos and great grandchildren Aiden Tinker and Hunter Tinker.
Interment was at Hillcrest Cemetery in Haughton, Louisiana where there was a graveside service for the family.
