Dorothy was born August 19, 1928 to C.B. Teekell and V.L. Norris Teekell in Hall Summit, LA. She spent her early childhood in Bossier City, moving to Hall Summit where she was Valedictorian of the 1945 HSHS class. She attended Norton Business School and was employed by Peacock Surgical in Shreveport. She married high school sweetheart Billie H. Gardner on April 10, 1948 and began her lifelong journey as devoted wife and mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Dorothy made a Profession of Faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in childhood and embarked in a fruitful life of faith and service. She was a very active member of Barksdale, Riverside and South Bossier Baptist Churches where through the years she served as youth and adult Sunday School teacher, WMU member and president, GA leader, and Choir member. Dorothy found special joy in all of God's creation and had an uncanny ability to reflect it through her beautiful sewing and creative projects. Her example served many and her voice and heart song continued to reach the lives of others, even as illness put words beyond her reach.
