Frances "Bert" Robertson went home to be with the Lord August 3, 2011. She was a resident of Hearthstone Assisted Living in Conroe, TX since July 2007. She was born in Lockhart, TX August 21, 1919 and resided in San Antonio, TX until 1960 when she moved to Shreveport, LA. Frances is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, George Franklin Robertson, Jr. and three sisters, Alice Klein, Sarena Long and Beulah Meuth, and two brothers, Claud McGinnis and Baskom McGinnis. She is survived by her children and their spouses, George Franklin Robertson III and Cindy of Humble, TX, Katherine Hoyt and John of The Woodlands, TX, and Gary Kent Robertson and fiance' Helen Banuelos of The Woodlands, TX. She was blessed to have six grandchildren, Michelle Madole of Shreveport, LA, Traci Martin of Edmonds, WA, Chad Robertson of Tomball, TX, Olivia Prator of Corsicana, TX, George Franklin Robertson IV, of Charlotte, N.C, and Michael Robertson of Kansas City, KS. She has seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Frances retired as an LPN in 1985 after serving 23 years as a Private Duty Nurse with Patterson's Nursing Registry. She was a professional, compassionate, and devoted nurse, always adding that "special touch" and a little humor to bring a smile upon her patients’ faces. She was loved and admired by all who knew her.
She also enjoyed bowling and was on a league for over twenty years at Holiday Lanes in Bossier City, LA. Her happiest moment is when she bowled a 207.
Special gatherings at "Aunt Bert's and Uncle Frank's were a big event the whole family and many friends looked forward to attending for fun, food, and fellowship. She also loved to dance whether it was at the VFW or just cleaning house---the music was on and her feet were moving.
Frances was a member of First United Methodist Church, Head of Texas Street, in Shreveport, LA where she enjoyed attending AVN (Alternate View Network) Sunday School Class with the late Rev. D.L. Dykes.
Her favorite time of the day was early in the morning hours when she read her Bible and drank her coffee before the business of the day set in. Two grandchildren spent the night with her and got up early one morning wanting breakfast, and one said to the other,"Shhhh...don't bother Mamaw until she reads her Bible and drinks her coffee." Frances will be deeply mIssed, but we rejoice with her in her new eternal home. We love you.
The family would like to sincerely say "Thank you" to the staff at Hearthstone Assisted Living in Conroe,TX on the Lighthouse side and especially the Harbor Unit for their professional personal love and care given Frances the past four years. Also, a "Thank you" to Dr. Frank Adams for his care, guidance, and expertise in Behavioral Neurology.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, Head of Texas Street, Shreveport, LA; or the Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
