He was born in Kingsport, TN. on January 14, 1930, to the proud parents, Ralph and Stella Little. Gilbert was a Christian walking by faith. Gilbert was a loving and devoted father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and was very patriotic. He enjoyed golfing, watching his grandchildren play baseball and football, spending Sunday afternoons’ watching football and eating with his family. He was very involved in charities and gave his time to help with the underprivileged.
Gilbert was a member of the VFW and Retired Chiefs Association. He enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 18 and served his country for 29 years and 2 years in Vietnam. He retired in 1979 from BAFB as CMSGT of Security Police. He transitioned into civilian life with a short stint at Eckerds; then 12 years as Safety and Security Officer at General Motors.
Gilbert is preceded in death by his wife, Elfriede Little; parents, Ralph and Stella S. Little.
He is survived by his brother, Don Little of Kingsport, TN.; daughter, Nancy Little Hanley and husband Bo of Haughton, LA; son, Michael Little of Minden, LA; grandchildren, Randy Hanley, Casey Hanley Holloway, Alexis Little and Mason Little; great-grandchildren, Holt Holloway, Madden Hanley, Hanley Holloway, Ellie Jewel Hanley, Owen Gil Hanley and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
Services for Gilbert will be held at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, LA on January 13, 2022, starting with a Visitation at 10:00 am; then a Graveside Funeral at 11:00 am.
Pallbearers will be, Michael Little, Mason Little, Bo Hanley, Randy Hanley, Holt Holloway and Russell Powell.
