Burt was born on August 31, 1936 to Charlotte “Lottie” and Maury Lancaster in Lynnville, TN.
After high school, Burt joined the United States Air Force where he served as an aircraft electrician. He traveled all over the world while serving in the Air Force and he received numerous awards during his service.
In 1957 Burt met Sarah Ellen Golemon at the Joy Drive-In theater in Shreveport, LA. They were married in May of 1958. They went on to have five children, Patty, Gary, Kerry, Mark and Monica.
In September of 1974, Burt retired from the Air Force.
Burt was preceded in death by his twin sons, Kerry and Gary Lancaster; his mother, Lottie Lancaster; sister, Jewell; brothers, Grady, Elwood, Bill and J.C. Lancaster. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Sarah Golemon Lancaster; daughter, Patty Raney (Rick); son, Mark Lancaster (Lisa); daughter, Monica James (Kevin) of Madison, MS; eleven grandkids; twenty-six great-grandkids; and many other extended family members.
Burt loved coaching his children in several different sports while they were growing up. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. He was a handyman and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and camping with his family.
Services will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home on Hwy. 80 in Haughton, LA on Saturday, December 17th at 11:00 A.M. officiated by Allen Lancaster. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park.
