

Haughton, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Herbert D. Haynes, 82, will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home. Visitation with the family will be at 2:00 PM prior to the service. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Pierce assisted by Brother Melton Prothro. Interment will follow at Haughton Cemetery, Haughton, LA. with full military honors.
Mr. Haynes was born in Cullman, AL to Carl and Mittis Haynes on September 28, 1929; he went to be with the Lord August 11, 2011. Mr. Haynes proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, as well as the U.S. Air Force, finally retiring with the U.S. Army after years of dedicated service. He was a longtime member of Belle Park Baptist Church. Mr. Haynes, also known as "Daddy" and "Papaw" had the best sense of humor. Always making you laugh with his numerous stories and jokes. He had a heart of gold and absolutely adored his family. "Daddy" or "Papaw" will be greatly missed, but we know he is back with the love of his life after losing her on June 14th, 2011, he is happier than ever being reunited with her.
Mr. Haynes was preceded in death by his wife Velma Parker Haynes; his parents; two brothers, Carl and Fred Haynes; and sister, Lucille Haynes. He is survived by his son, Gary Moore, Sr. and wife Betty, of Haughton, LA; daughters, Linda Weaver and husband Kenneth of Haughton, LA, Sharon Barnett and husband Van of Shreveport, LA; one brother, J.T. Haynes of Bessemer, AL; grandchildren, Gary (Melissa), Chris (Melissa) and Aaron Moore, Duke (Kara) and Andy (Kristi) Lowrie, Amanda Walsh (John), Brandi Dove (Dustin) and great grandchildren, Brennon Moore, Paige, Nicole, Sabrina and Amber Moore, Madelynn and Parker Lowrie, Sydni, Alexander and Alexis Lowrie, Dylan, McKenna and Scarlett Walsh and Emma Dove; sister-in-laws, Gloria Watkins of Jonesboro, LA, Marie Parker of Minden, LA; brother-in-laws, Alvin Parker of Bossier City, LA, and Buddy Parker of Jonesboro, LA.
