Mrs. Elinor llene Pendergraft Thompson went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, June 25, 2019, in Bossier City, LA. llene was born to Evert and Zilla Osborne Pendergraft on April 7, 1933, near Gateway, AR. Growing up on a farm nurtured llene's fondness for animals. She especially loved Pomeranian dogs; her last one was Mollie.
llene attended Southwestern Junior College in Waxahachie, TX, where she met the love of her life, David Wayne Thompson. They married on January 23, 1955, and lived most of their life in Hurst, TX. llene also attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, and obtained her Bachelor's Degree at North Texas State University in Denton, with a major in education and social science, and later earned a Master's Degree there in Counseling, Guidance, and Psychology. ln 1962, llene began her teaching career in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford TX lndependent School District at West Hurst Elementary School and later at Shady Oaks Elementary School. While teaching at Donna Park Elementary School she retired after 33 years in education.
ln 2013, llene moved to Bossier City, LA, where she lived the rest of her life. llene was a faithful church member and loved singing in the choir. She had a beautiful voice, enjoyed playing the piano and watching musicals. She loved her family and was happiest when spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 50 years, David Wayne Thompson. She is survived by her daughter Sheryl Harris and husband Andy of Bossier City, LA; her son James Thompson and wife Miriam of Winters, TX; a sister, Wilda Becker and husband Eugene of Blaine, WA; 8 grandchildren: Lauren Jetton, Andrea Stapleton, Jami White, Jasmine Smith, Joshua Thompson, Jacob Thompson, Miriam Thompson, and Jadyn Thompson; and 7 great grandchildren: Eden, Laurelyn, Jaci, Colbie, Nolan, Joshua Luke, and Hollyn.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019, from 6pm - 8pm, at Hill Crest Funeral Home Chapel in Haughton, LA. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2019 at Life Church in North Richland Hills, TX with visitation from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service. Interment will follow at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville, TX.
Pallbearers will be: Josh Thompson, Jimmy White, Payton Stapleton, Justin Jetton, Don Fisher and Jonathan Sawyer.
