Isaac E. (Johnny) Harrison, USAF Retired. Services for Isaac E. Harrison, 93, will be held Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Funeral Home in Haughton, LA. Officiating will be the Reverend Tom Brown, with his interment following the service at Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Friday, July 15, 2011, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Hill Crest Funeral Home.
Mr. Harrison was born in Merit, TX on July 9, 1918, and died on July 13, 2011, following a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Vera Harrison; wives, Oleta Hearne Harrison and Mary Reed Harrison; brother, William E. Harrison; sister, Grace Harrison Mays; and son, Donald R. Harrison.
Mr. Harrison joined the U.S. Army in 1936 when there was still a mounted infantry, and re-enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1939. He spent 32 months in the Southwest Pacific during World War II and participated in the Korean War. He received a Bronze Star Medal and a Presidential Citation with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters during his military career. He retired in 1966 with 30 years of military service.
Mr. Harrison is past Master of the Martin-McClanahan Masonic Lodge No. 384 in Bossier City, LA, past High Priest of the Giblim Chapter No. 99 RAM, past Illustrious Master of ISH SODI Council No. 46 CM. He was a 32nd degree Mason in the Scottish Rite, and recipient of the Red Cross of Constantine. He was Worthy Patron in the Eastern Star numerous times.
In 1963, the Harrison family moved back to Bossier City, LA, where Mr. Harrison would live the remainder of his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bossier City, LA. His hobbies included beekeeping, rebuilding tractors, and working on his farm in North Bossier Parish. He was a member of the ArkLaTex Bee Keepers Association for many years and sold his own brand of “Gramps” Honey.
Survivors include his son, Dr. Robert E. Harrison of Nashville, TN; daughter-in-law, Janis H. Harrison of Monroe, LA; brother, Joseph Harrison and wife Joann of Denison, TX; sister, Rebecca Logan and husband Darryl of Jenks, OK; granddaughters, Angela Harrison Vinet and husband Robert of Shreveport, LA, Elizabeth Harrison Clack and husband Jeremy of Monroe, LA; great-grandsons, Ethan Clack, Julien Vinet, William Vinet; Christian Vinet; and great-granddaughter, Caroline Clack.
