Funeral services for James Walter Cranford, 82, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022, in the chapel of Hillcrest Funeral Home. Visitation will be held before the services from 1 to 2 p.m. On Monday, April 25, 2022, Jimmy passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Jimmy was born on August 3, 1939, in Lawrence, Mississippi. He studied at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree in 1963. He moved to Bossier City where he began his career with Arkla Gas. He had a second job managing the Don Movie Theater where he met the love of his life. They soon wed and started a family. After retiring from Arkla Gas, he became an avid gardener and spent countless hours spoiling his dogs. He had a passion for college sports, particularly LSU. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him Ollie.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Cranford; daughter Carrie Phillips and her husband Mark; daughter Amanda Priestly and her husband Chuck. He is also survived by his grandchildren Quint and Madelyn Mitchell, Connor Phillips, Owen, and Oliva Priestly. He will be greatly missed by all.
