James W Gilcrease

From 1967 to 1970, he served in the U.S. Army in Germany as a mechanic and went on to provide for his family through his skilled work repairing appliances.

James was the firstborn of a large and loving family, one of fourteen siblings. He shared 55 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife, Marie. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially during weekends and holidays, and found great joy in his grandchildren.

James had a passion for classic cars and owned several over the years, and he also enjoyed watching wrestling. A man of few words, he was known for his perfectionism and took great pride in everything he did, from mechanical work to maintaining his yard.

Above all, he was a devoted father who always did his best to be there for his children in any way he could.

James survived by his wife, Elsie Marie Gilcrease; daughter, Lisa Renee McDuffie; two sons, Robert Wayne Gilcrease and James “Jimmy” Gilcrease; ten grandchildren, Aden Gilcrease, Hailey Robbins, Ashton Gilcrease, Gavin Smith, Andrew Shelton, Patrick Gilcrease, Kristen Constable, Vicki Gilcrease, Justin Gilcrease, Jessica Gibson, Jimmy McGuffie; brothers, Billy Longoria, Louis Longoria, Bruce Gilcrease, Johnny Gilcrease, Dennis Gilcrease; sisters, Ruby Vercher, Judy Garcia, Gwen Patterson, Nana McLaughlin, Darla McLaughlin, along with 12 great grandbabies.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Lester Longoria, Ricky Longoria, Ray Longoria and sister Linda Ann Harding,

Pallbearers will be Pat, Justin, Ashton, Aden, Andrew, and Gavin. Honorary pallbearer is Robert.

Services will be held for James at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Hwy 80 E., Haughton, Louisiana 71037. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time in the chapel. Reception and food to follow interment at 310 Wellington Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana 71111.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all his family, siblings, wonderful-in-laws, grandkids, and great grandbabies for all the love this family shares as a whole.
