James Edwin Smith passed away on June 29, 2022 at the age of 74. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on March 15, 1948. He spent the majority of his life in Bossier City, Louisiana and was a graduate of Bossier High School, class of 1966.
From 1969-1970, James was a surveyor for the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam. He worked in the hospitality industry in and around Bossier City all of his life. He was an extremely avid outdoorsman. If you needed James and couldn’t find him, just go to The Camp. He’d be there. He also enjoyed watching his grandkids play ball and sitting around family cookouts.
James was preceded in death by his parents, F. Maxwell and Mildred Smith.
He is survived by his son, Jesse Smith and wife Brooke; grandchildren, Kynzie, Cade and Cash Smith; brother, Kenneth Smith (Patsy); sister, Sandra Barclay (Alan); nieces and nephews, Brian Smith (Lisa), Scott Smith (Julia), Justin Barclay (Emily), Julia Webb (Jonathon), as well as several great nieces and nephews.
James was a loyal friend and was fortunate enough to have the same friends for over 50 years. The amount of visitors he received over the last few weeks humbled him. He passed a grateful man.
Special thanks to the V.A. Medical Center in Shreveport and Garden Court Rehab in Bossier City for the outstanding care that was provided.
Pallbearers will be Clarence “Brother” Kennedy, Raymond Aycock, David Cox, Bo Spataro, Brian Smith and Scott Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are The Late Great Bubba Spataro and all past, present and future members of Martin Creek Hunting Club.
