James Reid Smithson, age 82 of Elm Grove, Louisiana was called home to rejoice with his loved ones in heaven on Thursday, September 25, 2025. James was born in Boise, Idaho to James Howard Smithson and Glenda Lois Daniel Smithson on August 4, 1943.
He preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sharon Smithson, and brother Larry Daniels.
He is survived by his two sons, James Bookout and daughter Patience, Robert Bookout and wife Lori and their children Brittany and husband David Hudson and their son Clyde and Brandon and wife Katelyn.
Also survived by brother Roger Smithson and wife Judy and extended family.
Upon graduating from Bossier High School in 1962, he went to serve in the USAF from 1962-1968. After receiving an honorable discharge, he went on to retail sales for many years, retiring as upper management for Family Dollar.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
