On a snowy day in Montgomery, Louisiana on January 16, 1940, Johnnie Lawrence Basco started his life journey. Johnnie was the son of John E. Basco and Corine C. Cannon Basco. He was a rambunctious brother to his three siblings that preceded him in death; Leo, Lillie, and Earl. As a young man he learned hard work and a good work ethic by extending a helping hand to his mother and father working the land. Throughout his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and he had a love for collecting classical cars. Then, in June of 1958, he met and pursued the love of his life, Loretta J. Cochran. After a persistent courtship, the two wed on June 2, 1960. Together they fulfilled 60 years full of love and happiness; he was the loving father to Johnny L. Basco, Jr. and Charmain Y. Basco, including their spouses. Johnnie was the best Papa Bear to his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his extended family.
(KJV) Psalms 23: The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
