Kathleen Marie Umphries Roat, age 76, passed away on Wedenesday, January 7, 2026, in Bossier City, Louisiana. Kathleen was born January 10, 1949, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Everett Lee Umphries and Sylvia Marie Holt Umphries.
She devoted 29 years of service to the Post Office Federal Credit Union, where she was known for her dedication and kindness.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, James W. Roat Jr., son, Richard Roat; granddaughter, Maylin A. Roat; daughter, Heather L. Roat Shearer; grandson, Christopher J. Shearer; sisters, Stella Anthony and Linda Duphree, and brother-in-law, Gerald Duphree.
She was preceded in death by her father, Everett Lee Umphries; mother, Sylvia Umphries, Evert Lee Umphries, and Peggy N. Mitchell.
A graveside service for Kathleen will be held Friday, January 16, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Park, 601 Hwy 80 E., Haughton, Louisiana 71037.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Carpenter House Hospice.
