Landry was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather who loved the Lord and loved his family including his extended family with his whole heart and always had a heart big enough for complete strangers. Landry and his late wife Marie were known for their hospitality and how friends of their children were treated and loved as their own. Landry served faithfully in the United States Air Force and the Louisiana Army National Guard. During his lifetime, he was employed for Libby Glass, Gould National Battery and after retirement he was employed with Bossier Parish School Board as a crossing guard at Waller Elementary. He loved children and always wore a smile. He loved the outdoors and his daughter has fond memories of him taking her and her late brother hunting and fishing when they were young. He was also a huge New Orleans Saints and LSU Tiger fan. Landry was a devoted friend as well and always enjoyed making new friends at Spring Lake Nursing Home where he was a resident. He enjoyed bringing coffee to “Grammy” and his best friend Roy. The nursing staff loved him and he loved them back in return. Landry is described as a funny, loving, friendly, laidback and caring person who was very close to his family; especially his daughter after his beloved wife of 50 years passed in 2017. His daughter remembers a lot of talks and cherished the times spent with him at church worshipping the Lord as her dad had the biggest smile on his face. They spent a lot of quality time together and remembers how they rescued each other through the loss of her mother.
The family would like to thank the staff at Spring Lake Nursing Home for their love and care for him, the doctors and nurses who took such great care of him at Willis Knighton Pierremont and especially his sweet nurse and daughter-in-law, Valarie Carroway who lovingly facetimed his daughter and her husband during his illness at the hospital. His daughter would also like to thank his nurse Sherry who showed so much love and compassion while staying with her until he passed away.
Pallbearers were Brandon Larkin, Mark Carroway, Jeff Joyner, Daniel Wilson, Tracy Downey and Glenn Maynor.
