

BOSSIER CITY LA – Services for Marvin Bennett, 76 will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. H.D. Smith officiating. The family will be receiving visitors from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.
Marvin was born on January 24, 1936 in Graham, North Carolina and went to be with the Lord on April 5, 2012 in Bossier City, Louisiana. He was a member of the Masonic Order, the Royal Arc, Scottish Rite, the Red River Road Runners, and a former member of the Shriners. He was a member of Barksdale Baptist Church. Marvin retired from the United States Air Force after serving his country for twenty years. Marvin enjoyed coin collecting, wood working, and he loved to watch NASCAR and wrestling.
Marvin was preceded in death by his mother, Dollie Chriscoe; step-brother David Bennett; step-sister Catherine Holmes and granddaughter Tracy Smith and son-in-law Ken Dawson.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty years, Mourine Bennett; son, Marvin E. Bennett Jr. and wife Nancy; daughters, Linda Meservey, Carol Smith and husband Thomas, Carlene Dawson; grandchildren, Kenneth Dawson, Samantha Meservey, Katie Meservey, Travis Smith, Tiffany Smith and Catherine Ross; one great grandchild, Zoey Ann.
Active pallbearers will be Reed Holmes, Mike Haygood, Cliff Brown, Roy Simmons, Melvin Fletcher and James Kelly. Serving as honorary pallbearer will be Elbert A. Kelly.
