Marvin R. Lewis, of Ivan, Louisiana, stepped into Heaven on February 22, 2025 at the age of 86. He was born to Ebber and Modell Lewis on January 24, 1939. Marvin was married to his sweetheart, Patricia Ann Rhodes, for 65 years.
Marvin was born the son of a sharecropper in 1939. He lived a very poor life early on. He said many times, “he knew at 10 years old that he was poor” and he vowed if he ever got out of that situation he would never be poor again. This fact is what put a work ethic in him that he passed onto his children and anyone who knew him. Marvin was a logging contractor for Anthony Forest Products for over 35 years. He loved hunting, logging, car racing and most of all his family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Marvin Lewis; his father, Ebber Adair Lewis and his mother, Lee Modell Ferguson Lewis; brothers, Talmadge Lewis, Jessie Lewis, Nolan Lewis, Jerry Lewis, Alton Lewis, Bobby Dale Lewis and sister; Shirley Fair.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ann; children, Carla Lewis Harrison and husband, Nat of Gilmer, Texas; Jeffrey Lewis and wife, Stacy of Haughton, Louisiana; Mark Lewis and wife, Cheryl of Haughton, Louisiana.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brittany Lewis Standifer and husband, Neil of Simpson, Louisiana; Hunter Harrison and wife, Jenna of Gilmer, Texas; Blake Lewis and wife, Allie of Haughton, Louisiana; Tanner Harrison of Gilmer, Texas; Alana Lewis Lathrop and husband, Seth of Haughton, Louisiana; Allison Lewis and Averi Lewis, both of Haughton, Louisiana; great-grandchildren, Celia-Rae Lewis, Charlee Lewis, Rhett Harrison, Noah Standifer, Sadie Standifer, Ryleigh Harrison, Nash Lathrop and Olivia Lathrop to be born in April, 2025; brothers, DelMar Ray Lewis of Benton, Louisiana; and Curtis Lewis and wife, Mary, of Magnolia, Arkansas; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Lewis and Ava Jo Lewis, both of Springhill, Louisiana.
