Melissa "Missy" Jean Behrendt, 58, passed away on January 13, 2024, following a brief illness. She was born on June 11, 1965, in Holden, Massachusetts to the late John O'Connor and Marilyn Ruth Brooks McGann.
Missy grew up in South Bridge, Massachusetts; and moved to Louisiana in 1978. She was a mom and homemaker first. Missy enjoyed being a stay at home mom until her children all started school. Then she ventured out working for the Bossier Parish Schools from 2005 to 2012. Missy was recognized for being an Outstanding School Support Employee at Platt Elementary in 2009. Her Platt family always held a special place in her heart. Missy went on to become a Disney Travel Agent in 2010 and continued this career path through present day.
Traveling to Disney World with family is something Missy enjoyed and treasured most. She liked to cook, watch racing, and football. Missy would take great pride in supporting her Dallas Cowboys and would often participate in Fantasy football.
Missy loved being a Nana. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joys in life.
Missy was preceded in passing by her parents; and two brothers: Jack McGann and Jim McGann.
Left to cherish Missy's beautiful memories will be her beloved husband of thirty-six years, Robert Behrendt; her three cherished children: daughter, Lauren Behrendt, son, Brandan Behrendt and wife Cassidy, and son, Joshua Behrendt; three grandchildren: Harper and John-Brooks Behrendt, Luka Daugherty; numerous sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and staff of Willis-Knighton Bossier, along with two very special nurses: Logan and Mike for the professional care provided to Missy during her great time of need. We would like to extend our love to our extended family and friends for the compassion, condolences, and prayers extended during this time.
