Melissa Humphrey Riley

Passionate about teaching and leadership in nursing, she devoted more than 20 years to nursing education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2007, a Master’s degree in Nursing Education in 2015, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nursing Leadership in 2021.

Melissa loved her family deeply and cherished every moment with her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, cooking for those she loved, and looked forward to the holidays. She found simple joy riding bikes with her children and grandchildren, always making time to be present and together.

Melissa is survived by her husband, Lloyd Anthony Riley; sons, Brian Anthony Riley and Patrick Alan Riley; daughters-in-law, Elizabeth Kopmeier Riley and Heather Anderson Riley; grandson, Christopher Aiden Riley; granddaughter, Charlotte Amelia Riley; mother, Carol Smart Humphrey; brother, Charles Earl Humphrey; sister, Ava Humphrey along with numerous cousins, aunt, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Aaron Riley and father, Earl Humphrey.

Pallbearers will be Brian A. Riley, Patrick A. Riley, Eric Humphrey, Tobey Ferguson, Jeremy Ferguson, Taylor Ferguson.

A visitation for Melissa will be held Monday, February 9, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Hwy 80 E, Haughton, Louisiana 71037. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 10:00 AM at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel.
