Our mother was born on August 18, 1935 in Slayton, Minnesota to Albin and Eunice Fredricks. She lived on a farm and knew the value of family and hard work. She went to primary school in a one room school called Brookside. She attended Slayton High School in secondary school and loved to perform in school plays. Her grandparents and great grandparents were immigrants from the Scandinavian Countries of Sweden and Norway.
In 1952, our mother, met and married our dad, Charles R Fuller. What a great life, as my dad was in the US Air Force and we lived in South Dakota, Georgia, Florida, Panama Canal Zone, and Mississippi. Some of the transfers were remote for my dad, so momma had to be both mother and dad and take care of the business of raising 2 children without him for a year at a time. She did it with grace and even though she was lonesome, she made us feel secure and loved.
In 1974, they retired from military life and moved to Bossier City, Louisiana. Not to long after, my mom had a visit from some ladies from the local Baptist Church. She attended for a short time and before she knew it, she was the church pianist. Her grandmother taught her how to play. Now we never had a piano, as they are so heavy and not a good item to move when you are in the military. But with a little practice, she became a pro. She felt the leading of the Holy Spirit to teach and be involved. In 1983, she began a journey with the Lord that was amazing. She studied her Bible and the Lord spoke such wisdom and love into her. I always knew my mother was a peace-maker. She became a tremendous teacher of the Word and a Worship leader. And to think, she started with meeting at the church with other ladies, to put together a mailout newsletter. She was faithful in the little things, so the Lord gave her big things to do! She was faithful and she taught us to be faithful as well.
Our mothers journey didn't end on earth until she moved to heaven on September 10, 2022. In 2014, she moved to Pilgrim Manor Care Home and continued with a weekly Bible study for the residents. She counseled residents, encouraged them daily and ministered to the staff. She was content and rejoiced in her circumstances, for she was never alone....the Lord was always near.
She was so very proud of our family and all that we have accomplished in our lives. When we did good she told us and if we messed up, she didn't hesitate to let us know what she and the Lord thought about it! She was our best friend and poured her knowledge and wisdom into all of our lives! Oh how we will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fuller, her parents, Albin and Eunice Fredricks and brother Carlye Fredricks.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kathy Davis of Bossier City, her son, Kent Fuller and wife Teressa, of Monroe, La, brother, Jon Fredricks of Pueblo West, Colorado.
