

Michael W. Bernard, age 73, was born on September 24, 1952, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and passed away on March 23, 2026, in Haughton, Louisiana. Michael will be remembered as a man with a big heart and an easy going spirit, whose steady presence brought comfort and strength to those who knew him.
Michael attended trade school, where he found his way as a diesel mechanic and later worked for Halliburton. He also served in the Air Force for four years during the Vietnam Era.
Michael was married to Diana Bernard for 53 years, and together they made a home in Haughton, Louisiana, where they raised their two children, Shaun and Jason Bernard.
He loved woodworking and being in his shop, and he enjoyed family time, music, car races, model trains, yard work, gardening, and grilling. He was also involved in a train club, a community he valued and enjoyed.
Michael was a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a very good friend. He loved his family very much, and his legacy will live on in the lives he touched through his care, loyalty, and quiet generosity.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, J.T. and Betty Bernard, and by his son, Shaun Bernard.
Michael is survived by his wife, Diana Bernard; his son, Jason Bernard and his wife, Kristy; his grandchildren, Lyndsey, Kyleigh and Ethan Bernard; brothers, Taylor and John Bernard; sister, Sandra Stockwell and Becky Kennison; his sister and brother-in-law, Bridget and James Davis; brother-in-law, Robin McKinney and Brian McKinney and wife, Kim. Along with his puppy dog, Willow, and many loving family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm in the Chapel. A celebration of life will begin at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park.
