He was a member of Beulah Land Baptist Church and enjoyed leading the men’s ministry meetings. He was supportive to the local dirt track racing community and enjoyed the time he spent there with his many friends and his family.
Michael worked for Honeywell UOP and retired after 26 years. He continued working around his house becoming a mechanic for small engines (lawnmowers) and finding new and creative ways to bargain and deal. He was the best "Dude" ever for keeping up the tradition of donuts with his grandson, Hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Michael is survived by his wife, Donna Lynn Murray; daughter, Megan Funderburk and husband Josh; grandson, Hunter Funderburk; sister, Vicki Murray Fulghum and husband Hal; nieces, Sara Fulghum, Shelly Windham, Melanie Fulghum; great nephews, Parker and Peyton Fulghum; great nieces, Hannah Kate Windham and Hadleigh Fulghum; and his precious members of the family, Jazzy and Chevy as well as extended family and many friends.
Services to celebrate Michael's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Pastor Chad Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 12, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hill Crest.
The family would like to thank the racing community for the special tribute and the ICU nurses at the Christus Shumpert Highland Hospital for their personal care.
Pallbearers will be Devin Perry, Justin Carpenter, Parker Fulghum, Peyton Fulghum, Randy Warner, and Curtis Ashton.
