Richard Harry Krusemark
December 14, 1948- March 17, 2026
Richard Harry "Rick" Krusemark, 77, passed away quietly at home in Bossier City, Louisiana, on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
Richard was born on December 14, 1948, in McAllen, Texas, the only child of Harry Fred and Meta (Schroeder) Krusemark.
He had a very active childhood on his parents' farm working side by side with his father, helping manage the crops in the fields and citrus groves. Rick had a natural talent for understanding how things worked and became familiar with the tools of the trade, whether it was a hammer, a screwdriver, a plow or a tractor.
He loved being around the various animals on the farm, especially his kitties and his grapefruit-eating donkey, Conchita.
Rick graduated from McAllen High School in the class of 1967, then attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi, Texas. While in Corpus Christi, he began his career in radio telecommunications, first working for local radio stations, then for Central Power and Light
Company (CP&L).
Rick was soon transferred to Uvalde, Texas, where he continued working for CP&L.
His work responsibilities grew exponentially as computers were introduced to the workplace, and technology advanced rapidly. As he took on new responsibilities with CP&L, his job description was continually upgraded.
He traveled around the country obtaining various levels of computer training in order to best serve the company.
By 1994, Rick had become a highly skilled computer software and hardware specialist.
In 1986, Rick met and married the love of his life, Janice, and she moved to Uvalde where they made their home.
Rick had a big surprise in 1994 when he was transferred to
Southwestern Electric Power Company (Swepco) in Shreveport, Louisiana. Rick and Janice relocated to Shreveport, even though they had no idea where that was.
Leaving Texas and moving to Louisiana made them feel like strangers in a strange land, but Louisiana quickly became their new home.
Rick continued to work for Swepco until his retirement in 2010,
after 40 years with the electric company. Since his retirement, Rick has devoted his time to puttering around his man cave, and
traveling from one side of North America to the other with Janice.
Vacationing was one of the things that put a beautiful glow on Rick's face, while working in the man cave was something that gave him a sense of purpose. Most of his neighbors know him best from the days he would drop what he was doing just to say hello, howdy, hi y'all!
Known for his signature suspenders and his friendly, approachable nature, Rick had a way of turning ordinary moments into meaningful connections. His smile could light up a room, making everyone around him feel welcome and at ease.
Rick will be remembered as a man who never met a stranger, always ready with a warm smile and a kind word.
He showed his love through simple, genuine gestures that left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Rick lived a quiet dedication to the people and things that mattered most to him. He was a man of God whose life was grounded in his Christian faith and deeply devoted to God, He ended each day with a Bible in his hands and a prayer on his lips.
He was deeply devoted to his beloved wife and his family, and found joy in life's simple pleasures -spending time with loved ones, caring for his kitties, tinkering and traveling.
Rick is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Janice; his son Jonathan Parker Krusemark; his grandchildren Sharlette Rose Krusemark and Jonathan Luis Krusemark. He is also
survived by numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Meta Krusemark.
A service to honor Richard's life will be held at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, 601 Highway 80, Haughton, Louisiana, 71037, on
Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., preceded by a visitation that will begin at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, a cause close to Richard's heart.
Richard's life was a testament to faith, love, and quiet strength. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him and loved him.
