Rick was born in Houston on March 11, 1957, to Billy and Ruby Mitchell. Rick was a member of the United States Air Force and served as a member of the United States Presidential Honor Guard in Washington D.C. He enjoyed 30 years faithfully dedicated to Shreveport Communications. He and his wife, Judy, have faithfully served the Lord for their entire marriage of 44 years and were members of Jamestown Baptist Church.
Rick was preceded in death by his father, Billy Mitchell. He is survived by the love of his life, Judy Herren Mitchell; his children, Brandon Mitchell, Heather Mitchell Valentine and husband, Matt Valentine, and Patrick Mitchell; granddaughter, Ella Valentine; grandsons, Jackson Mitchell and Layton Valentine; mother, Ruby Mitchell Dodez; loving siblings, Linda, David, Cathy, and Angie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the ICU and MICU medical staff at LSU Ochsner for their dedication and care during this difficult time. They would also like to thank the Arcadia Hospital ER and Life Flight for their timely support and critical care.
Funeral services for Rick will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022, at 10:00 in the morning at Eastwood Baptist Church in Haughton, Louisiana. Services will be officiated by Rev. Stan Foster and Rev. Danny Moffett. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, November 18, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Eastwood Baptist Church. Rick will be laid to rest in Doyline Cemetery, Doyline, Louisiana.
Honoring Rick as pallbearers will be Leroy Faith, Jr., Eddie Faith, Jason Bustillo, Eric Hall, Chaz Igo, and Samuel Herren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home at 7200 Desiard Street, Monroe, LA 71203.
