Robert Gene Boone Sr.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 11:00 am at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home and Park, 601 US HWY 80 East, Haughton, Louisiana 71037 for Robert Gene Boone, Sr., 90, who passed away at his residence in Lafayette, Louisiana on Saturday, February 26,2022. Visitation will be observed from 10:00 am until the time of service. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Louise Brasher Boone and their two daughters, Rhonda Boone Sellers and Melanie Boone Williamson; son-in-law Mark Sellers; parents Artie and Ada Peacock Boone; his sister, Gloria Nell Dickey and her son Rory; brother-in-law Teddy Brasher and wife Mary; Edwin “Bo” Brasher and his wife Helen, William Roy Brasher; two sisters-in-law, Bobbie Brasher Oliva; Mildred Brasher Jenkins and her husband, Willie Jenkins.

Robert is survived by his son, Robert Gene Boone, Jr. and his wife, Iris of Lafayette, son-in-law Kevin Williamson and his wife Shea; grandchildren, Jason Boone and wife Ashley, Justin Boone and wife Aimee, Brigitte Boone Hawsey and husband Brian. Nine great-grandchildren Analise, Abigail, Hayden, Haylee, Hogan, Reagan, Kennedy, Jackson and Grant. Two sisters, Sandra Wiggins and Beverly Boone; brothers-in-law David Brasher and wife Cindy, Gerald Brasher and wife Billie and many nieces and nephews.

Robert was born on December 19, 1931, in DeSoto Parish where he spent his early years. He served his country by joining the Air Force at an early age spending time in the Philippines and Goose Bay. He received an honorable discharge on July 31st of 1954 for his faithful service to the United States Armed Forces.

Following his time in the Air Force, Robert spent 50 years in the roofing industry in Bossier City where he lived and raised his three children. He enjoyed reading, watching wrestling and old westerns and spending time with family, taking trips with his grandchildren to the west coast, San Antonio and Florida. He was a member of Waller Baptist Church in Bossier. Robert lived his final years in Lafayette, Louisiana with his son and his family.

His presence will be sorely missed by all.
