Roger Wayne Mitchell, 78, of Bossier City, Louisiana passed December 5, 2021. Funeral arrangements for Roger will be held at 1:00 p.m., December 9, 2021 at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clarke Road, Keithville, Louisiana.
He was born in Chicago, Illinois on July 13, 1943.
Roger graduated from San Luis Obispo High School and served in the United States Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a Senior Master Sargent. He had a passion for sports of all types, but the Atlanta Braves and the New Mexico Lobos were his favorite teams. He loved playing golf and having the occasional beer with his sons. Roger was a quiet man, but he loved spending time with his family. After moving back to Louisiana to be closer to his son John and his family, he spent nearly every Sunday with them for cookouts and pool parties, although he never wore shorts, let alone a swim suit!
Left to cherish Roger’s memory are his sons Roger Mitchell and his husband Michael Shupe, and John Mitchell and his wife Kelli Mitchell; granddaughter Madison Mitchell and her fiancé Tyler Crow; and sister Linda Siems.
He was preceded in passing by his parents Ezell and Gretchen Mitchell and his eldest son Robert Mitchell.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Red Cross.
