

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rudolph (Rudy) Paul Badzik , who went home to be with the Lord peacefully April 2, 2025, at the age of 90 at Willis Knighton Pierremont Hospital after sustaining a fall on March 4, 2025. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and member of the community, Rudy's friendly personality and smile will be missed by many.
Rudy was born in Donora, Pennsylvania, to John and Julia Badzik who immigrated to the US from Hrabušice, Czechoslovakia, the youngest of three sons.
Rudy joined the Army in 1957 for 2 years and was an enthusiastic patriot all his life. After being discharged from the Army, he went to work in Washington DC at the US Government Printing Office as a typesetter, a trade he learned by helping his older brother, Henry, in his printing company in Donora while growing up. Rudy moved his family in 1967 to Shreveport, Louisiana where he acquired several AAMCO Transmission franchises. Over the years, he owned several other businesses and became a well-known entrepreneur in the Shreveport area. He was a corporate sponsor of the Shreveport Captains Baseball team, a member of the Board of Directors for Bossier Community College and involved in the Business Exchange Club of Shreveport.
Rudy was passionate about many things, his faith in Jesus Christ being the most important. He was a member of Belle Park Baptist Church in Haughton and was active in Sunday morning bible study, men’s prayer ministry, and a was a Gideon, delivering bibles throughout Shreveport/ Bossier. Special opportunities to serve included being a counselor for the Shreveport Anne Graham Lotz Crusade and prison ministry at the Louisiana State Penitentiary. Rudy had the gift of gab and enthusiastically shared his testimony of faith with people he would meet.
His personal hobbies included travel, golf, deep sea fishing, scuba diving as well as all types of spectator sports, especially the Washington Redskins, University of Alabama and LSU football games. He was particularly fond of golden retrievers, black labs, WWII movies and grits at I-HOP.
He is survived by Irene Badzik, daughters Joan Badzik of Castle Rock, CO and Lisa Zick and her husband John of Temecula, CA, and son Charles Badzik and his wife Kirstie Coffman of Denver, CO, and his grandson Chase Badzik of Denver, CO. He was preceded in death by his father, John J. Badzik; his mother Julia A. Badzik; and his two brothers, John R. Badzik and Henry Badzik.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, May 31, 2024 at Belle Park Baptist Church.
