Tracy was born September 25, 1960 to parents, David N. Oakes,Sr. and the late Jimmie S. Oakes at BAFB, AR., and passed away at LSU Health Science Center September 13, 2011. Tracy was a graduate of Parkway High School in 1979 and a graduate with honors from Vo Tech in the field of electronics. He worked for Bossier TV and Cable for 8 years as a Mechanical and Electronic Technician. The owner and manager of TV & Cable Co. in Natchitoches, LA recognized Tracy's talent and knowledge and hired him to organize and operate his company. Tracy packed his bags and moved to Natchitoches where he worked until he retired.
He married Deborah England on the Texas Street Bridge in Shreveport, LA on New Years Eve 1993 in a mass wedding ceremony. During his retirement years he was known to be a skilled craftsman and produced great handicraft work in his shop where he spent many hours working on projects. If there was something to be done with his hands he had the talent to do it.
He even made his own King size bed that was beautiful and a comfort to sleep in. There was no project that he couldn't master or that he couldn't conquer.Tracy was a fantastic young man with many talents and a Southern personality everyone recognized. Everyone loved him and he had a host of friends. He enjoyed a close relationship with his father and especially his mother, who passed away in 1997. Tracy was close to his family all his life and will be clearly missed by everyone. He will always be remembered in our hearts.
Tracy leaves behind to cherish his beautiful memories, his wife Deborah and two sons, Daniel England and wife Stacey and two grandchildren, Krista and Karrie; son, Steven Thomason; father, David N. Oakes, Sr. and father in law Steve Williams; sister Cynthia DeSoto and husband Dayton; brother, David Oakes,Jr. and wife Karen, sister in law Patricia Arnold and husband John, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors in the ICU Burn Unit at LSU Medical Center and especially the great care given by the nurses, staff and Nurse Suzie Hopkins for the attention given to Tracy and his family.
