

A celebration service will be held in honor of Colonel van Noppen Friday, January 2, 2015 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park with full military honors. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, January 2, 2015 from noon until time of service.
Pastor Stanley Larson will be officiating the service.
He was born March 22, 1928 in Minot, N.D. and passed away on December 28, 2014 in Shreveport, LA. Vern was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church (Shreveport, LA). He enjoyed woodworking and fishing. He was a veteran of WWII (USS Mississippi), Korean conflict and Vietnam (USAF). Vern learned to fly before he had his driver’s license. He just traded in his wings for the real thing.
Vern was preceded in death by: Henry Freese (father), Daniel M. van Noppen (stepfather), Isabelle H. van Noppen (mother), Daniel E. van Noppen (brother), Sandra Sebastian (sister), Leila G. van Noppen (wife), Eugenia B. van Noppen (wife), Peter D. van Noppen (son), and John E. van Noppen (son).
He is survived by his wife, Janice V. van Noppen (wife), Diane van Noppen (sister), V. Kevin van Noppen (son), Steven J. van Noppen (son), Lawrence J.van Noppen and wife Teresa (son), Arthur Tracey (stepson), Carolyn Eller (stepdaughter), Pamela Tracey (stepdaughter), Maxwell van Noppen, Lily van Noppen Corey van Noppen, Cody van Noppen, Kyle Rivenbark, Caitlin Eller, Garrett Eller (grandchildren), Shepherd van Noppen and Kayleigh Spurlock (great grandchildren).
Pallbearers will be the USAF Honor Guard.
