

Bossier City, LA – Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Verna L. Fairchild, 94, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Reverend Harrell F. Shelton, Assoc. Pastor of Airline Baptist Church, officiating. He will be assisted by Pastor Buster Paige. Interment will follow in Hill Crest Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
Mrs. Fairchild passed away Sunday, May 24, 2015 in Bossier City, Louisiana where she had resided for 58 years. She was born in Wesson, Mississippi; she was a former resident of Brookhaven, Mississippi. She was a faithful member of Airline Baptist Church. She had been a widow for 20 years, and had a long blessed married life with Mr. Willie G. (Bill) Fairchild, who died in 1995. She had a strong Christian faith, loved her large family and her church, and enjoyed many long-term friendships in Bossier City. She was a people person and genuinely cared about others. She never wanted to leave the “place” she called home until she was finally called to her heavenly home. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Fairchild; Her parents, Troy and Bessie Case of Wesson, MS; Two brothers, Emmett Case of Wesson, Mississippi and Marvin Case of Brookhaven, Mississippi. She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Shaw and husband John of Natchitoches, Louisiana; Two sons, Phillip Fairchild and wife Donna of Loudon, Tennessee and Richard Fairchild and wife Cindy of Long Beach, Mississippi; Six grandchildren, Stacey Armand and husband Gabe of Lafayette, Louisiana, Michael Shaw and wife Loni of Lafayette, Louisiana, Sherrie Fairchild-Keyes and husband Mike of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Matthew Fairchild and wife Toni of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Micah Fairchild and wife Jenny of Richmond, Virginia, Christy Howard and husband Brian of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; Ten great grandchildren, Rhysen Armand, Lexi, Lillie, and Noah Shaw, Alex, Isaac, and Jonah Fairchild, Grant, Blake, and Cole Howard.
Honoring Mrs. Fairchild as pallbearers are Brian Howard, Michael Shaw, Matthew Fairchild, Micah Fairchild, Carey Currie, and Gabe Armand.
The family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, CNA’s, sitters, therapists, members of Airline Baptist Church caring ministry and friends who have taken such good care of mother during these last few years.
