A memorial service to celebrate the life of Virgil Lee Walker, 77, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Hill Crest Memorial Funeral Home, officiated by Chaplain Jimmy Sistrunk.
Virgil was born September 28, 1944, in Gatesville, TX and passed away on October 19, 2021, at his home in Haughton, LA. There to hold his hand until the very end was his loving wife of 46 years, Elizabeth.
Virgil proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Army. For the past ten years he was employed by Louisiana Downs and prior to that, he was a truck driver for Central Freight Lines for twenty-five years. Virgil was an avid bass fisherman and won several tournaments. He also loved football and was a faithful OU fan. Virgil was a loving husband and brother who will be deeply missed.
Virgil is preceded in death by his parents, Byrdie Lee and Ruby Jewel Walker. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Elizabeth; sisters, Tonna Barton and husband Arlie, and Janell Imler; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
