Virginia was born Saturday, July 6, 1935 to Fernando and Cora McMillan Barbo in Coushatta, Louisiana and was one of nine children. She passed away peacefully, Thursday, February 5, 2015 in Bossier City, Louisiana after a lengthy illness. Her son was by her side at her passing.
After marrying the love of her life, James, in 1955, they settled in Haughton where they lived for 53 years. Virginia worked at the Louisiana Ammunition Plant for several years before working as a teller at the Haughton branch of Bossier Bank & Trust until retirement. She and James spent their retirement years helping to raise (and spoil) their granddaughters, Lara and Claire.
Virginia was always quick with a smile and a good word. She was funny, wise, and always willing to listen and provide advice if asked. She will be missed and remembered fondly.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her loving husband, James Edward. It should be noted that she passed away one year and one hour after his death on February 5, 2014.
Virginia is survived by her son, James Michael Crawford and wife Linda, granddaughters Lara Catherine and Claire Elisabeth Crawford, all of Bossier City, Louisiana; brothers Bill Barbo and Jack Barbo of Coushatta, Louisiana, Melvin Barbo of Sibley, Louisiana, and Walter Barbo of Shreveport, Louisiana; sisters Bertha Moore and Pauline Barbo of Haughton, Louisiana, Jeanette Bamburg of Coushatta, Louisiana, and Helen McGee of Tomball, Texas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her beloved poodle, Lucy.
Honoring as pallbearers will be her nephews Steve Moore, Joey Moore, Bobby Moore, Thomas Moore, Derrick Moore, Benjamin Moore, and Johnny Berry.
The family would like once again to thank Dr. Attila Balogh and the staff of Promise Hospital Bossier City for their loving care of our loved ones over the past year. You’ve become like a second family. We would also like to thank all of our friends and family for the many prayers. Each and every one was appreciated.
