Services will be held to celebrate her life at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Hill Crest Memorial Chapel with Ken Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m. until service time.
She was born on February 24, 1933 in Gilmer, TX. Wilma Jean married her husband Paul Chriss in 1953 and began working at the Army Ammunition Plant, followed by Jim Dandy as an assembly line worker. She worked for the next 40 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Schumpert Medical Center. Her husband Paul passed away in 1982 at the age of 54. Her life was focused around her children and grandchildren and was devoted to them all. She helped raise not only her own children but also her grandchildren, remaining a large part of their lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Chriss; son, Paul Chriss, Jr.; grandson, Jeremy Hutchison; father, Marvin C. Davis; mother, Leona Skinner Davis; brother, A.J. Davis and sister, Ilaree Burnett.
Wilma is survived by children, Carolyn Ashworth and husband Tommy. Ann Hutchison, Sue Mellinger and husband George and Eddie Wayne Chriss and wife Wendy; grandchildren, Jessica Nash, Kim Bachman, Paul Hutchison, Rachel Mellinger, Ayden Chriss, Carley Sparrow and Christopher Chriss; many great grandchildren; sisters, Durene Sanders and Janice Logsdon and brother, Gary Wayne Davis, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Marty Kuchar, Tony Kucher, Brian Nash, Thomas Bachman, Ayden Chriss and Michael Sparrow. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Taylor and Ryan Murray.
