Dear Susan,
I cannot believe that it’s been 5 years since 
Dr. Stabinsky’s passing.  He was such a wonderful friend and always willing to help others.  I’m sure he is doing the same in heaven!!

I just heard of the passing of Dr. Stabinsky.  As I have known him for almost 20 years, I very much valued our relationship and want you to know that his care, concern and helpfulness was so very meaningful to me. At this time my thoughts are with you and your family.

We were very saddened to learn of Harvey's passing. Harvey definitely was one of the very good ones. We know he left the kind of memories which will serve as a source of strength as you and the family recover from this terrible loss.  Although we were from the other side of the family, and separated by a generation,we always looked forward to spending time with the both of you at the Greene family celebrations and gaining the benefit of Harvey's wit and wisdom. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and yours at this difficult time.

I learned of Harvey's death, regrettably,  too late to attend the services.    I grieve him along with Susan and our colleagues in Westchester and New York. Harvey was a very good friend, an excellent clinician,  We worked together  for many years, both in the psychiatric societies and  by treating shared patients.
His clinical skills were unsurpassed.   His contributions both to NYSPA and the Westchester Society were substantial.  He was open and friendly, welcoming, always helpful and willing to help.  His valued collegiality will be sorely missed.

Totally shaken up by the news of Harvey’s passing. We remember his exuberance and sense of humor vividly, and he was a wonderful resident at Montefiore when we were both still there. We unfortunately lost track of each other in recent years but Laney & I would still reminisce about the enjoyable times we spent together. A sad way indeed to start the New Year. Our warmest sympathies, Susan.

Few wonderful moments of interaction with Harvey as  a psychiatrist reminds me what one can do best his profession;

I came to Harvey for psychotherapy in July 1984, during my first week of residency--very anxious and apprehensive. He helped me navigate life and residency for the next 4 years. I will always remember his insight and humanity--both as my psychiatrist and, later, my colleague. I hold him at least partially responsible for my decision to become a psychiatrist myself. You both have been very important to me over the years. I feel very lucky to have met both of you.

So very sorry to hear about Harvey. We worked together at St. Vincent’s until I moved to California in 1995.  I enjoyed seeing him at Maggie Santoro’s retirement party in June 2017. 
You are both in my thoughts at this difficult time.

Working with Dr Stabinsky for almost 12 years on an inpatient psyche unit, was a privilege and an honor. He was a leader. He was our leader on 3 South.  He has set quite a high bar for excellence  with his intelligent, dedicated treating of patients with varied mental illnesses. Everyone learned from him and respected him, patients and staff. I can only imagine the void he leaves his loved ones as I contemplate the gaping hole of his truly extraordinary practice in psychiatry left on his unit.  Our Maestro. Fearless. Unwavering. A tower of strength. No one could ever say he didn't bring out the best in his staff. He demanded the excellence of others that he expected of himself. That is the burden of a master. He was a supremely confident man who made us confident because if we could pass his standards, dealing with the patients was a piece of cake. Leaders can't let down and show their soft side very often, or they lose the illusion. The illusion of infallibility.  Then we can see behind the curtain, to see how the trick is done. I worked with Dr Stabinsky long enough to see his soft side on occasion and to peek behind that curtain to see how he did it. He did it with greatness of skill and a humaneness which  he displayed right to the end in an amazing display of dedication to his craft, his staff, to the gift of life and to his patients. 
   As sobering as it was seeing Dr Stabinsky, our commander, less than 2 weeks ago, being wheeled onto our unit and interviewing his patients in the nurses station, that image will stay with me forever as an example of never giving up. An example of clutching on to everything one holds dear for each and every moment, not knowing which one will be the last. The last picture to paint. The last sunset to see. The last drive home. The last patient to talk with. The last spoken and heard words of "I love you."
