I just discovered this website about Richard. We were in the same section F as Harvard Law School 1L’s and spent practically the entire year together, having promised one afternoon at the Harvard College Career Office while undergraduates to give each other jobs in the future—which we never got the chance to do.  I still remember sitting in his house in Pelham (where I later moved to not knowing that was where I had visited him during college) as he explained in florid enthusiasm the benefits of queen bee jelly.  Richard was brilliant, enormously talented and with an unerringly sharp sense of humor. I do miss him.

Richard, my partner in law in the 1980s, I only just learned of your passing.  My condolences to all of your family.  You brought a great deal of humor and joy to my life as we elbowed our way at Winthrop Stimson on Wall Street.  With sadness, fond memories and affection. 

Although yesterday was the 1-year anniversary of losing you, we still remain so sad. Your're forever in our thoughts, prayers, hearts & of course, our toasts. We'll raise a glass to you Thursday night. You're missed everyday. My father & you define blessings. Much love & thank you for all of the joy you brought into the lives of all that knew you.

Richard, we know you are watching over us.  It is hard to believe that it is a year since you are gone from us.  Thinking of some of the fun things we have done and happy times we were lucky to have shared.  Memories of you always put a smile on our faces.  You will never be forgotten.  We love you always!

As part of the 40th reunion activities of the Pelham Memorial High School Class of 1974, about 25 classmates and some 15 others recently gathered around a newly planted cherry blossom tree on the high school grounds at the corner of Corlies Avenue and Franklin Place.  A bronze plaque set at the foot of the tree reads, “Dedicated October 25, 2014 by the PMHS Class of 1974 in memory of our classmates who will be with us always in spirit.”  One of our classmates, an ordained minister, read the names of the 18 of our 240 classmates who departed way too early.  After each name was spoken, a member of the class or a surviving family member placed a red rose at the foot of the tree.  I had the honor and privilege of placing the rose after your name was spoken.  Even for those of our classmates who did not know you in school as well as did I, you remain with us always in spirit.

It has been almost 9 months since your untimely passing and the grief is still raw. You would have turned 58 on 11/03/14, gone much too soon. Richard you will always be remembered as a man of integrity, honor, intelligence and great wit. Rest in peace my dear brother-in-law and friend and know we will continue to support your loving wife Kathleen, your beautiful Hope and your wonderful son Tom as they forever mourn your loss. I will always remember you and smile, you made the world a better place to be!

There are no words.  My sweet father is holding Richard close now. They're watching over us together. My heart is broken for you as I'm unable to touch the depth of your pain.  How we love your family as all of you are part of ours now & always.  He was a true blessing.  Many hugs.

Richard was a great writer, editor, teacher and role model for many aspiring journalists at The Harvard Crimson. He was a great friend and colleague. His death is deeply saddening, and my thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Like everyone else, I was shocked and saddened to hear of Richard's passing. I met Richard at the Harvard Crimson when he was a freshman, and we were close for many years. He was a blazingly talented writer and humorist and a loving, insightful friend. Deepest sympathies to his family and friends. It's a terrible loss. None of us who knew him will ever forget him.

I'm so very sorry to hear this terrible news.  My sincerest condolences. Richard was a wonderful fellow-Crimson traveller.  He was brilliant and funny and a complete mensch. I remember many a fun Tommy's run (playing pinball and talking politics).  My thoughts go out to his family.

Richard was one of the most gentle, loving person I have met.   Whenever  Richard and I happened to see each other in Mount Vernon or on Hackley's premises, I usually get a big hug!

Richard was a member of my core circle of friends during high school.  The school newspaper, Quiz Bowl, softball at Prospect Hill, ping pong parties, and other activities were all great experiences because of the talent, personalities, and humor of Richard and the others involved.  Though Richard and I grew apart during college -- in recent years we both lived in Larchmont, yet saw each other only rarely, at local events or about town -- it is his friendship and humor back in the early 1970's that I remember well.  For Kathleen, their children, Mr. and Mrs. Weisman, Diane, and Michael, sincerest condolences, and may your fondest memories of Richard remain with you always and serve to lessen your grief at this particularly difficult time.
