

Joe was born on June 2, 1927, in Huron, South Dakota, to Franklin Levell Ostrander and Claudine (LeMere) Ostrander. He graduated from Marquette University in 1951 with a degree in civil engineering, and worked for many years as a field representative for Ellerbe Architects of St. Paul, MN. He wed Rose Ann Poradek of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, and they were married for fifty-five years, raising six children. In their retirement, Joe and Rose loved to travel with their trailer and see the United States. Her hobbies were cooking, baking, crafts, and reading; his hobbies were woodcarving and storytelling. Rose preceded him in death in 2006.
Joe is survived by his sisters: Geraldine (Glen) Zehntner of White Sulphur Springs, Montana, and Patricia (John) Kerrigan of Houston, Texas; his children: Kathleen (Steve) Naylor of Hayward, Wisconsin; Therese (Larry) Peterson of Phoenix, Arizona; John (Mary Pat) Ostrander of Naperville, Illinois; Mark (Sherron) Ostrander of Madison, Alabama; Matt (Buffy Riley) Ostrander of Hayward, Wisconsin; and Margaret (Phil) Kasun of Delafield, Wisconsin; seventeen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A family service will be held at a later date in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
