Betty Joyce Hoskins Mills, beloved by her husband, her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and by countless people around the world, went to be with Jesus on June 22, 2014, in Anza, California. Betty was born in a rural farmhouse outside Norris City, Illinois, on July 11, 1927, and was the eighth of ten children born to Corbett Hoskins and Clarcie Rodgers Hoskins. After graduating from High School in nearby Carmi, Illinois, she went to nurse's training in St. Louis, MO, and then moved to Los Angeles, California in 1952, where she continued her nursing career and graduated from L.I.F.E. Bible School at Angelus Temple. In 1957, she met and married Dick Mills, who was a young evangelist. His ministry later went worldwide, and Betty traveled the world with him.
Dick and Betty have two children: David Michael of Hemet,CA, and Deborah Mills Booth of Anza, CA. Betty was the delightful grandmother of seven grandchildren: Shoshana Michael Adams, Rachel Michael Tucker, Judah Israel Michael, Joel Michael, Blake Booth, Cardiff Booth, and Whitney Booth Owens. These grandchildren provided Betty with five great-grandchildren: Lyla and Levi Adams, Elijah and Aliyah Tucker, and Emma Joy Booth.
Betty Mills was an essential, irreplaceable, and vital part of Dick Mills' ministry and life; she was a devoted mother, Sunday School teacher, nurse, friend to many people, helper to those in need, and was especially an intercessor given to prayer. She was in charge of the intercessors list at Dick Mills Ministries, and dedicated many hours to praying for urgent matters of people who were in crisis. All who knew her recognized her as an extraordinarily gracious, generous, thoughtful, and beautiful woman of God. Her life was characterized by unwavering Devotion ---- devotion above all to the Lord Jesus, and then to her husband and family, and to the ministry. She was furthermore devoted to the needs of people everywhere, whenever she was able to help. She sponsored orphans, helped send children to private schools, and gave to the needs of the disadvantaged. She had a heart that was larger than life, it seems.
When she left this realm and entered the presence of the Lord, she was surrounded by fifteen family members and friends, who witnessed that she finished her life's journey with dignity, grace, and triumph. She was bade farewell with a blend of weeping and words of honor and tribute, and the singing of a hymn of praise. Betty Mills is LOVED, treasured, honored, remembered joyfully and fondly...... and she will be greatly missed, by her loving family and by countless others. God bless Betty Joyce Hoskins Mills.
