

Carey Leon Jones of Hemet, California passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021 at Kaiser Permanente - Riverside Medical Center in Riverside, California. He was 70 years young. He was born on Tuesday, December 19, 1950 in Detroit, Michigan as the fourth of eight children born to the late Clinton and Lola Dorsey Jones. After serving with the Marine Corps and defending our country honorably in Vietnam, Carey settled in San Diego and worked as a pipe-fitter for National Steel and Shipbuilding Company. Afterwards, he enjoyed a third career as an Environmental Protection Specialist for the U.S. Army, traveling all over the world. Many countries needed his expertise including Vietnam, South Korea, China and Kuwait, as well as many states within the United States. Carey enjoyed the outdoors and exercise. He liked to visit Torrey Pines Reserve and the surrounding communities. Carey liked watching Christian TV shows, and his sports teams were the Chargers and Rams. His family describes him as being reserved and quiet, yet he liked to joke with his family and friends. Carey will be missed by those that knew and loved him. Surviving Carey are the love of his life and wife of 5 1/2 years Jocelyn; son Clifton and daughter Shawna; grandchildren Christian and Maya; brother Paul; sisters Alene, Elvie, Hazel, Louise and Wendy; nephews Evan, Jerry Jr. "Shean", Lenderrick, Luther, Nathaniel and Robert; nieces Dominique, Jennifer, Lola, Margo, Sable, Simone and Tina; grandnephews Brandon, Gregory, Jerry III, Luther Jr., Mark, Montel and Robert Jr.; grandnieces Adryanna Jeri "AJ", Alexandria, Ashley, Brandy, Brittany, Denise, Dominique, Elexis, Geneva, Ishea, Jalen, Jannelle, Karma, Layla and Nikeya; great-grandnephew Noah; great-grandnieces Aurbree, Lajanae, Maleya, Mariah and Mya; and 28 other grandnephews, grandnieces, great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces, as well as one on the way! Carey is preceded in death by his brother Jerry; nephews Edward and Jackie; and niece Carrina "Sugar".
