Tomas and Teresa Perez Gonzalez gave birth to their first child on October 13, 1965 in Mazatlan, Mexico. They named their son Eduardo Perez Gonzalez and nicknamed him Lalo. He is the eldest brother of five siblings; two brothers and two sisters. Lalo's journey took him to California where he migrated in search of the American Dream. California became his home; the place where he married his love Maria Pimentel, and where they raised their two children; Steve and Rachel Perez. Steve and Rachel are Lalo's pride and joy, and they blessed their father with the privilege of being a grandfather to three children. Gigi, Oso and Solly fondly called their Abuelo Tata, and Lalo simply adored his grandchildren.
Lalo had many jobs, few being a newspaper boy, paletero, taquero, cobrador, bus boy, cashier, and inspector. Regardless of where and what he did, Lalo always gave it his all in the hope that he could better the lives of his family and friends. This hope became a reality and is evident in the fact that his home became a sanctuary to those who seeked refuge. Lalo was always prepared to give what he had, even if he had nothing left for himself. Lalo touched many people with his generosity. He fulfilled his purpose on earth by being the rock that many of us leaned on and he taught us to never be so serious with his contagious laugh. His kindness and love reached every person he met. This means that we all carry the legacy of love and friendship that he built in all of our lives.
Lalo left this world for paradise on the 13th of September 2017. Knowing that Lalo was filled with gratitude, love and hope, we honor God for his life as we say goodbye for now.
