Etla Meldahl Newton, 99 of San Jacinto, California passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at Manor Care Health Services-Hemet , CA. She was born to the late John and Sophia Hinkson on Friday, December 2, 1913 in New York, New York. She was one of the founding members of the AHRC, Association for the Help of Retarded Children and was very active for over 50 years, Etla was also very active in the Grace Episcopal church in Jamaica NY for over 46 years. She was part of the woman's and bible study group. Her favorite food was Calaloo Fungi, meat patties and cheese cake. She is described by her family as loving, dedicated, caring, careful and precise. Surviving are daughters, Sandra Newton of San Jacinto, CA and Lois Newton, brother, Jay Alfred Newton, grand daughter, Carla Julia De Cohen, children of the late niece Marjorie Clark, Eric, Bruce, Sherri, Kim, Jeffrey, Jonelle Clark, and the Schuster Family, . She was predeceased by her brothers, John Hinkson and William O'Reilly.
