

Evelyn Elizabeth "Betty" Alverson/Schmutz 85, passed away comfortably at home on May 5, 2013 after a long battle with alzheimers; surrounded by her son Matthew, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who had the privilege of caring for her in her final weeks. Her parents Frank and Rosella Snyder, Brothers Frank Jr., and Jack, sister Pat, Husbands Lee (1st), and Don (2nd) all preceded her in death. Betty was born on July 26, 1929 in Denver, CO. She lived in Culver City, CA for 46 years, while married to her 1st Husband Lee Alverson, who passed away in 1968, and raised her son Matthew there until her 2nd marriage to Don in 1975, whereupon they moved to Las Vegas, NV. She moved to the Hemet Valley in 1991 and lived there until her death.
Betty loved to bake freshly ground whole wheat bread, pancakes, and birthday cakes for her family. Her passions and talents included quilt making, needlepoint, painting, glass art, furniture reupholstering, and sewing. She loved life, traveling to see family, and spending time at the family cabin in Big Bear, CA, where all her grandchildren would spend many summer day's with her and Grandpa. She was a wonderful and loving mentor to our family and we will forever remember her love of God, her devotion to all of us, and her compassion to her fellow man. Her loving spirit will forever burn within our hearts.
She is survived by her son Matthew Alverson (Paula) of Sun City, CA; Leann Largey of Hemet CA, Spencer Schmutz (Gayle) of Orem, UT; and Stephen Schmutz of Spring, TX. Together they have totaled (so far) 14 Grandchildren and 36 Great Grandchildren.
A Funeral service was held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at LDS Park Hill chapel. Interment will be in Pierce Brothers Valhalla Memorial Park 10621 Victory Blvd North Hollywood Ca 91606,"
