Frank was born July 11, 1959 in Greenville, South Carolina, to Louis and Elizabeth Ivey, who are now deceased. A 1976 graduate of Hemet High School, Frank worked his entire life in the field of auto parts and repairs, after being injured in Army basic training. He most recently worked as a manager of the CarQuest store in Hemet for 7 years. He married his wife, Lynn, in March, 1996, at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, and they made their home in San Jacinto for the last 16 years.
Frank’s store was a member of the Hemet Chamber of Commerce and he enjoyed attending the mixers once a month. He held an ASE certification as a Parts Specialist, and served on a local committee that met with Mt. San Jacinto College vocational teachers to improve the course offerings in automotive repair.
Frank was the ultimate NASCAR fan, and knew every track, and every driver’s number. He never missed watching a race, and attended as many as possible. His other favorite sport was softball, having managed Valley Wide teams for girls’ fast pitch, men’s and coed leagues and was a pitcher. He recently supported the Who Cares team in Division 3, though he became too sick to play.
Frank sat on the Board of Directors of the Inland Master Chorale in Redlands, CA, where his wife sings, and held the position of Immediate Past President. He could be found at every performance serving as House Manager, and was known to be a hard sell at budget meeting!
In addition to his wife, Lynn, Frank leaves 3 sisters, Ruth Saxton and Alice Peterson (Monte) of Wichita, Kansas, and Ruby Barton of Pickens, South Carolina. He is also survived by his step-sons; Kevin Denning of Seattle, Washington, and Jason (Cathy) Piech of Menifee, California, and 1 grandson, Korey Piech and 10 nieces and nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 2:00 PM at McWane Family Funeral Home, 350 N. San Jacinto St., Hemet, CA 92543.
Entrusted to the care of McWane family Funeral Home.
