Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Geraldine Rathbun Burgess, and his three children, Candace Burgess, Steve Burgess, and Tim Burgess. Gilbert had seven Grandchildren and four Great Grandchildren. Gilbert is also survived by one brother, Ed Burgess. Gilbert was preceded in death by Garnett Burgess, Eglah Dodge Burgess, and baby Patti Jan Burgess.
Gilbert lived in Lansing, MI, Tipton, IN, Whittier, CA, Huntington Beach, CA, Riverside, CA, Murrieta, CA and worked as a Product Engineer at FMC/Thermal Dynamics and as CEO of Burgess Brothers Bindery until retiring in 2005.
Gilbert was a member of Assemblies of God Lake Elsinore and a resident at The Colony in Murrieta, CA. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and camping. Throughout his life he loved his family and the Lord.
