

Glyn served in the US Navy, he is a WWII Veteran. He did some military training along the coast in California and fell in love with the state. After being Honorably Discharged, Glyn moved to California and spent his initial time in Palm Springs working odd jobs, one being a pool attraction for a resort (being a skilled diver). Following that, he moved to Long Beach and worked for Douglas Aircraft until he joined the Long Beach Police Department. He retired after 25 years there. His son Mike, followed in his footsteps of Law Enforcement. They shared some time working for the force together.
Glyn met his wife in Long Beach, Wilma June Whitehouse. They fell in love, married and together they had two children, Mike and Carol, whom they raised in Long Beach. Raising their children, they traveled a lot, going where the road would take them. Glyn and his wife moved to Murrieta, CA a few years after his retirement in 1986. He worked for Rancon Realty in his retirement years.
Glyn was very athletic. He was champion over 20 states in track & field, swimming, and diving. At that time, he represented Texas A&M. He once assisted Esther Williams in a USO Tour entertaining the troops, displaying his swimming skills. Throughout his life, any chance he could get, Glyn would be sailing, fishing, or scuba diving.
Glyn was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Nolia Payne and his brothers and sisters. Glyn is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wilma June Payne; their son and daughter-in-law Mike and Patti Payne; their daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Greg Curtis; and 3 grandchildren David, Katie, and River.
