Grace Mary Etta McMurtry

Grace Mary Etta McMurtry, age 100, of Hemet, CA passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at Carmel Mountain Rehab & Health in San Diego, CA. Born on September 8, 1915 in Greenway, AR; she was the daughter of the late George and Mary Tomlinson.

Grace was very proud to be the first of her family to graduate from high school. She worked in the office at G.E. where she met the love of her life, Jim McMurtry. They wed and started their family. She went back to work at G.E. as an Assembler when their children were of school age and retired after 20 years to spend more time with her husband and family.

She had a Green Thumb and could grow anything. Grace was an excellent cook and loved making meals from scratch. She grew her own vegetables in the garden and loved spicy food. Grace was also a gifted sewer. She made lovely drapes and furniture covers.

Grace was preceded by her beloved husband of 45 years marriage, James Samuel McMurtry, in 1983. She is survived by her daughter, Charlene Francis; son, Gary McMurtry; grandchildren, Christina Francis, Jim Francis, Brandon McMurtry, and Ryan McMurtry; and nieces, Shirley Covington, Georgia Buzska, Teri Tomlinson, and Cindy Carlson.
