

James D Davenport, 82 of Hemet, California passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at home surrounded by family. He was born Wednesday, January 1, 1936 and was the son of the late Henry and Henry Mae Davenport. James served proudly in the US Army. He was always on the go, he loved to camp, fish, work on autos in his spare time. He also built many of the family homes rather than purchasing one with his VA benefits. James liked to try his luck at many of the local Indian casinos looking for the big payoff from his favorite dollar machine. He was especially fond of being around his many grandchildren. With all their energy, it made him feel very young and energetic. James also was a long term Deacon at Mt Zion Baptist Church, in Lucerne. Preceding in death was his wife of 52 years Shirley Davenport, sons Henry and James Davenport, and daughter Monica Davenport and Eddie. Surviving are
daugher Sharlene Casterlin ( Terry ); daughter Denise Nolen ( Lloyd ); daughter Sonyia H Davenport (Tim) ; son La Cris Davenport; daughter Celecia Orrick ( Marvin ) and son Lawrence Davenport and 37 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren, and eight children he raised as his own Prince, Shirley, Andrea, Henry, JD , James Jr., Jimea, and Quntae. A visitation will be at McWane Family Funeral Home located at 350 N San Jacinto St, Hemet, CA on April 17, 2018 at 9:00am followed by Service with Internment with full military honors at Riverside National Cemetery at 1:15 pm.
