James Francis Mercer, known as "Jim" has passed away at the age of 79, on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in Hemet, California. He was born to Robert E. Mercer and Mary Isabele McGowan on Saturday, May 25, 1946, in Massachusetts.
Jim joined the Navy at the age 18 and received his GED. When he left, he became a printer by trade.
Jim met Linda on November 1967. They went on a blind date, set up by his friends, to a drive-in movie (very cold night), and they both ended up with bad colds. Jim and Linda got engaged on Friday, July 12, 1968 and married the following year, July 12, 1969, and have been blessed with 56 wonderful years of marriage. They came out to California in the late 1970’s in an old V12 250 GTE Ferrari, moving around in different towns, and ended up in Hemet. Jim was into cars, mostly Ferrari’s and Formula 1 car races. He was the better half of his family. He will be missed dearly.
