(March 4, 1934 - July 11, 2025)
Jane Helen Johanson was born in Chicago on March 4, 1934, and was lovingly raised by her Swedish mother, Edla, alongside her older sister Elsa. In her early twenties, she made the significant move to the Los Angeles area, where fate brought her together with James (Jim) Sullivan, her husband of sixty years. Jim would fondly recall their first date, remembering how Jane, filled with excitement and eagerness to arrive on time, unintentionally bumped into him on the sidewalk. This serves as a charming memory that captures her vibrant spirit and warmth.
Shortly thereafter, Jim and Jane would marry and lovingly raise five children, sharing a remarkable marriage. Jane dedicated herself to her work as a secretary, both in businesses and schools, always going above and beyond in her responsibilities. With a nurturing spirit, she also devoted countless hours to helping her children with their college essays and guiding them through the challenges of education. In her leisure moments, Jane found joy in her books, delighted in playing bingo and keno, and cherished every moment spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love and dedication.
She is fondly remembered for her warm and relaxed demeanor, as well as her genuine care for others. As someone who embraced the Catholic faith, she demonstrated her dedication to God by performing numerous small acts of kindness and nurturing love throughout her life. Even in her final days, she shared joy with everyone around her with her cheerful personality, enthusiasm, and positive outlook on life.
She leaves behind her daughters, Linda and Laura, her sons, Daniel, Patrick, and Gary, as well as eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. We pray for her eternal peace, asking that the Lord grant her rest, and may light shine upon her always. Amen.
