(1967-2020)
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of John Paul Dubots at the young age of 53.
John died suddenly at his home in Temecula, CA on Friday, December 18, 2020 due to complications of a pulmonary embolism.
John was born on July 7, 1967 in Coudersport, PA and remained true to those roots throughout his life. He was a standout student-athlete at Coudersport High School, where he excelled in football and track and earned a scholarship to play football at the University of New Hampshire. Following his college graduation, John relocated to San Diego, CA and eventually to Temecula, CA, but his family vacationed in Coudersport annually and maintained many relationships with friends back home. John also made frequent trips back to his hometown for hunting expeditions, family visits, and to conduct business with clients.
John married his high-school sweetheart, Jodi Anderson, on March 26, 1994 in Coudersport, and together they raised three wonderful children – Damon (24), Cole (22), and Callie (18).
John’s impact on his community was extensive as he served as a long-time Rotarian, a founding member of his Business Networking International (BNI) chapter, and a member of the Temecula United Methodist Church. Through his work as a Financial Advisor, he helped to secure the financial future of a countless number of families.
He believed in being of service to others and was always quick to lend a hand. It was not uncommon for his family to offer assistance to the less fortunate, host an exchange student, help a neighbor move, or offer meals and their guest room to friends.
The Dubots home became well known to many as a place of laughter, fellowship, and bonding. Thanks to the generosity of John and his wife, Jodi, the doors were always open, and many friendships exist today between those who happened to meet at one of John’s many events.
In addition to his immediate family, John is survived by his father, George Dubots Jr. of Coudersport, his mother, Georgeanne Kelley of North Fort Myers, FL, his brother George Dubots III (Vicky) of Coudersport, nieces Darian Dubots of Pittsburgh, PA and Dana Dubots of Coudersport, PA, and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family wishes to thank the community and their strong network of friends for an outpouring of support during this challenging time. A memorial service has not yet been scheduled, but a scholarship fund has been set up in John’s name. Donations can be made to the John P. Dubots Scholarship Fund, c/o C&N Bank, 10 N Main St. Coudersport, PA 16915.
John was a loving husband, a compassionate father, a valued friend, a trusted mentor, and a role model within the community. His presence on this earth may have ended far too soon, but the blessings he bestowed on so many will continue to survive for decades.
