Linda Carole Gilpin was born on April 17, 1947 to Calvin and Betty Lou Gilpin in Litchfield, Illinois. She was the oldest of three girls. She grew up on a farm and remembers it to be a fond childhood memory. She would reminisce on the pleasures of cooking with her Aunt Juanita and Aunt Thelma. She would remember special treats like Aunt Thelma's peach pie and picking cherries.
The Gilpins were a military family and moved around a lot. The family ended up on the West Coast, in California. Linda attended and graduated from Carson High School in 1968. She worked at McDonald Douglas for several years and then moved to Las Vegas where she began her new life. She began working at the Silver Slipper Casino in 1976, where she met Lindsay's father, Bruce Vendramin. Bruce and Linda were married July 7, 1977. Lindsay was then born on October 28, 1979.
Lindsay says she would remember the simple things like the smell of her mom when she'd pick her up from preschool and her gentle laugh and comfort kisses. She always made Lindsay her first priority. Linda and Lindsay moved to Moreno Valley in 1987, and became permanent residents in 1989 where her sisters Cindy and Audrey lived.
Linda was a very hard and diligent worker all her life. She loved her job as an ER admitting clerk in which she spent many years doing. She retired from Corona Regional Medical Center in 2002. She would always try to make the best out of life. When she'd get lemons, she'd make lemonade....and she loved lemonade. Linda had a lot of friends and was energetic and fun. She saw the best in everyone she encountered and would make a friend for life.
Lindsay's friends adored her mom just the same. Linda had been through trials and tribulations in her life, and from that she became a very strong and positive woman. She had been fighting her illness for some time. We are praising God to know that she does not have to fight or feel pain anymore. She did fight the good fight. She can run, see, hug, and embrace all the loved ones that she has missed for so long. Most of all, the most reassuring and comforting thing for those missing her, is simply knowing that she is with our Lord Jesus Christ, and that we WILL one day see her again. This is her celebration of life.
